RevitGary
First off I would like to say thanks to all who have been helping me here. I am new to mental ray and revit. I am a pro at autocad and scanline. I have realized I need to be a pro at revit and mental ray. I use a shadow technique with scanline where I make an object invisible to the camera but have it cast shadows. This just makes it easy to do artsy shadows right where I want them in the viewport. I am trying to recreate this technique with mental ray with no success. how is this accomplished? I am trying to do it in object properties. Do I need to adjust the general object properties and the mental ray object properties. does the general object properties afffect the object when using metal ray? Usually i just make the object invisible to the camera and cast shadows. What metal ray options should be cheked?
RevitGary
Never mind I have been playing with it and I seem to have found the correct combination. I think my main problem was it was a standard material. I made it a mental ray matt material and it seems to work fine. fell free to use this technique for that added artsy look
