RevitGary
I am using Max 2009. I apply a concrete pro material for a stucco finish. I make the color reflectance slider white. The color appears gray in the material editor and in the rendering. I need a nice white stucco with a nice texture. What am I doing wrong? Also I have looked at some tutorials some crank up the sky and sun intensity to 4 and 2 some leave them both at 1 . Which is a better idea? It would seem cranking it up would wash out materials. mattclinch
If your scene is setup physically, white stucco should be about .85 reflectance colour as nothing really reflects 100% of the light that hits it. Leaving Sun and Sky at 1 is preferable, do the rest with your exposure control is your best bet.
RevitGary
Ok I have -- exposure control / MR photographic / Physical based daylight / photographic / 512 shutter speed Effects/ brightness - contrast 6 and 6. mr sun at 1 mr sky at 2 --- 2:00 pm and my camera is looking at the the sunny side of the building not the shadow side Still dark this seems odd to me. What should be changed?
mattclinch
Effects/ brightness - contrast 6 and 6. What's this? Try taking that off. Switch your Photographic Exposure to use EV value at 15, rather than shutter speeds etc, and if it's still too dark, lower your EV value to 13 or 14. RevitGary
If you click on effects tab you can add a brightness contrast modifier. thats what "Effects/ brightness - contrast 6 and 6." "lower your EV value to 13 or 14." Wow that worked what a good haze setting
mattclinch
Sorry Gary, i know what it is, I just don't see the reason for its use in this situation, but glad that sorted your problem.
RevitGary
Well before you suggested the EV I made the haze 10 and that brightened things up too.
