TomA
Hi, Do you have to have Max and/or Backburner installed on every PC used in a network render, or just the Manager? If yes, do they all need to be separate licenses? Thanks T
Jim Mann
You need at least the Backburner Server installed on all the render nodes along with Max and any releveant plug-ins. The manager can only communicate with a server that is looking for it and needs Max to be already installed on the server machine, it doesn't put it there itself. They don't need to be seperate licenses, you can run multiple servers from the one license. Edited February 24, 2009 by Jim Mann
TomA
Ok thanks. Do you know if it has to be the same version of Max on all the nodes? I think we've got 2008 and 2009 currently on a handfull of different PCs.
Jim Mann
It has to be the same version that is installed on the node machine. Backburner can deal with multiple versions on server nodes but it must have originating version available to render the job. Same goes for rendering software, plug-ins and paths.
