Brute Guy
Hi All, I am looking for a solution to render multiple scenes when I'm not at my computer (when I'm asleep!) Currently I get all my objects and set them up in one 'big' scene (so they are far apart from each other) then simply do a batch render using the different cameras. This was a 'bodged together method' I used to use to get a load of renders out over night, but i'm looking for a way to render multiple scenes, that is, render different max files out over night. Currently, I just open a couple of versons of max, and render the files out at the same time. The most I have found I can have running is about 3 files and then things get really sluggish. Is there any software availible I can obtain which will help me render multiple scenes? Hope someone can help. Marc
JCM ARQ
Hello Marc, maybe I'm not answering the exact question you are asking, but another option (similar to the one you are doing with the elements far apart) its to save different scene states (tools, manage scene states) for your file, and use batch render. If you want to render different files (meaning each file a different model) then you can create an empty file, put XREFs of the files you want to use, and if you keep and easy-to-select layer organization (ex. for file one all your layers start with FILE01-..file two FILE02....ecc.) you can save a scene for file one (turning off the rest), then for the other..ecc... and you can ajust the lights and other stuff for each of them... and in the batch render you just select the camara, the scene state for each render and the preset... hope it will be useful JC
Brute Guy
Hi, Thanks for your tips, I have never used scene states before but this looks a good way of doing it. Ta Marc
Nic H
backburner is made for this (and it comes with max and is easy to set up) set up your computer as manager, monitor and then put server on when you go beddy byes and the jobs will process until done.
