Redav
How has it been for you? I have had this M6300 since mid to late next year and I have to say I have been really unimpressed with it when it comes to 3ds Max. I use MX (road design software), Photoshop, Premiere Pro and AutoCAD and none of them have any issues aside from the odd crash in AutoCAD. From the very first time I installed Max, it would cause a blue screen stating that the display adaptor was corrupt. This was almost something I could reproduce on demand and it plauged me for about two months. I thought I would try new drivers so I downloaded the new ones. The odd thing was that after downloading them, I think it might have given me a BSoD about 5 times in the following month however I hadn't actually installed the drivers. Go figure. Lately I have been finding that the machine is unstable when it's off the network. This is an issue because I am working in a project office and need to use it. When I'm back on our network, those issues vanish and I find other issues when using Max. I don't get it. Once I have dealt with my current workload I shall send it back to IT to be reimaged and updated. I'll then try Max and see what happens. One of the guys suggested I should spec up a replacement. There's a newer M6400 however there's every chance that if this one isn't a lemon, then I could well find the same dramas with a machine in the same family. Are there any other Dell's I should consider?
gfa2
I've got an M6300 with XP64, 4GB RAM and Quadro 1600M. I've never had a problem with it. Only thing I don't like about this laptop is even though it has a 17" screen it doesn't have the separate number pad on the keyboard, even though there is room for it. DarinClifton
I have a M6300, use max 2009, AutoCad 2004/2009, Photoshop, Boujou 4.1, Maya 2008, all with no problems at all except one, AutoCad 2009 is unstable in shaded mode. Besides that rock solid performance all around... I use it my laptop 4-6 hours a day 7 days a week. quadro fx 1600 vista64 4 gig ram
