Dave Buckley
When importing Inventor files into Max, i am aware that Inventor needs to be installed on the same machine as Max Design so that Max can see the required DLL's, now what I am unsure of is whether that Installed Inventor needs to be licensed??? What i mean is that i am going to be installing a trial, when that trial has run out, will i still be able to import the inventor files??? I would imagine i can as the correct DLL's will still be installed on the same machine right?
Crazy Homeless Guy
Quick side question... Have you used Inventor for Arch modeling? I am considering giving it a spin myself.
Dave Buckley
nope but my colleague uses inventor day in day out and did all of his house extension plans, 3d views etc in it. he swears by it, but he's an engineer one thing with inventor is that the models generally contain a lot of unecessary geometry, because the assemblies you build are built like they would be in the real world, so think of the amount of screws, nuts, bolts, washers that will be in the models that you can't even see. all add to the RAM usage, and 9 times out of 10 when a support call comes in because someone can't render there scene, they are generally using models from engineering packages where the model has been designed/modelled ready for manufacture.
