danb4026
Can anyone advise as to whether it is worth spending the money for the full version of Groundwiz or simply using the Lite version?
lambros
the lite version has serious limitations, among others you can't use more than 2 objects to scatter, I actually use about 8-10 per project to make the terrain look realistic and random. Also you can't detach objects, and you can't use textures in diffuse slots. I used the lite version for 15 minutes until I decided to buy the full version. It is not cheap, but well worth using for larger scale projects where you need to plant randomly 200,000 trees in an uneven terrain.
danb4026
Lambro, Thanks for the info. I know this is a lot to ask, but would you mind Posting a pic of an image done with groundwiz and explaining which parts were done using Groundwiz? My thoughts would be to use groundwiz for overall terrain features and texture, Vray proxies and vrayscatter for large scale vegitation plantings, and more detaled stuff for in close. Does this sound logical?
lambros
this is a portion of a large scale project I worked on recently. Ground textures were groundwiz, the grass as well as sand areas. The upper right vegetation area near the marina is about 80,000 trees (a lot small ones do not show from the distance). Good thing about groundwiz is that when you do a planting, you can set collisions, and you can edit all tree objects afterwards, and it follows the terrain elevation, it really saved me on this project!
