DavidR
Yeah, it looks flat. how are you lighting it? You shouldn't see outside -it should be blown-out, with stronger shadows and light, so you'd get more contrast. Also, use linear exposure (in case you're using exponential or other which kills contrast) and see how it goes. Try not to use any fill lights -this can be lit very well with just an HDRI. arkitech2
I agree, if you want to show strong amount of light comming from outside, it should appear brighter than you have. it also add some depth too. Unless you want to have a dimmed lighting effect, decrease the light comming from outside, and add some light source from inside, ie: turn on the freestanding lamp, add ceiling lights, etc. You'll get more dramatic result. Try to use linear or reinhard color mapping and play with the darkness and brightnes multiplier. It would also add more depth and contrast. And just a criticism, i just noticed that the colors you've used look too monochromatic, you may want to introduce some other contrasting colors to make it more interesting. Hope this helps. uaqpau
Thanks for your advices ..Im looking for a bad weather daylight, where you can still perceive where the sun comes from, but in it's pale mood:eek: ..one of those days when it feels better to stay in..And actually, I'd like to be able to see what's outside, to introduce it in its context. Well.. Im going to add some more objects to give it another turn.
Fran
It is good, but could be improved. Is there any kind of finish on the wood panels? It needs a little specular highlight. The floor looks like vinyl - a roughness map could give the finish more complexity and realism. The upholstery on the chaise lounge looks like metal - try enabling Falloff in that material. I think if you want a cloudy day, you should turn off the sun. To me, the exposure balance looks good otherwise. I also think you should add an interior light source behind the camera to produce some more distinct shadows.

Maybe you want to make the room more appealing vs outside by making it look cozy, with warm interior light in contrast with flat gray overcast exterior?
