Ruprect
I am trying to find a lighting solution for a 3D Plan view and would appreciate any advice. I am using 3d max and vray. In the attached image I am using a vray sun and camera setup. I have placed a ceiling on the building and set it not visible to camera. Where I would normally set the camera iso to about 45, I have increased this to 300 to let light in through the windows and doors. Although this did let light in, it has resulted in massive white values for the exterior. If I reduce the ISO to 45 the interior is not lit up at all.' I have also tried without the ceiling on, but this did not produce realistic results. There is a previous post which suggests using an AO pass. If this is the best solution, could anyone give me a link to a good tutorial on this as I am not having much luck finding one. Thanks in advance. Ky Lane
How about some lights, like a real apartment?
BrianKitts
Try using exponential or reinhard colormapping to keep your exterior from burning out, then you can use either the mulitplier(reinhard) or darkness value(exponential) to brighten up your light in the interior. As Ky mentioned it would really help to use interior lighting as well.
LuckyST
3 things you can do... increase the environment multiplyer increase the dark multiplier... and add vray lights (planar) at the "dark" side windows to boost the secondary light from that direction.
