Nate
Hey guys, Been browsing this forum for a while now picking up tips here and there (forums are full of excellent info). I thought i'd post a WIP as i'm kinda stuck as to where to go next. Obviously furniture will help alot but i was wondering what you guys would change/add to the current image. I'm using Max & Vray with Phys cam/vray sun+sky. Any comments & crits are welcome Edited March 10, 2009 by Nate
Stan Zaslavsky
building model looks good - what are you using for the people? they look a little bit flat also i'd get rid of the red car - i think that model doesnt exist in Aus? the vw on the other hand is great also how about some clouds - especially on a day like today - there is plenty in melbourne hope it helps
Nate
Hey Stanz thanks for the reply, - people are opacity maps on a plane, i agree the blacks look washed out - will edit in PS. - red car is a range rover i think? I might swap it with the black BMW. - i will hunt down a decent background that might add to the window reflects. Cheers!
Kyle
Would definately put a different sky in there. The glass looks flat and needs something to reflect. I agree with what was said with the people. What is that shaded square on the left hand side of the picture? Building looks well modelled but I feel the textures could have a little more depth and contrast. A little 'too' clean at the moment. Your vegetation at the side is a little repetitive maybe a little variation there. It seems like a good model to create a nice visual with a few minor tweaks. BrianKitts
I would try playing with the sun direction a bit. The image reads flat due to both faces of the building towards the camera being in direct sunlight. Placing the side of the building in shadow will help the image to read with more depth and dimension.
Nate
Thanks all for your replies. - now using a LWF workflow - have put a sky in, i think it works well - fixed alucobond from a matte colour - changed angle of the sun (i agree with what you said Brian) - people look better now Kyle - shaded square is an existing building, not sure if i should model it or not? - i agree the matte white and grey need texture but the problem is its hard to pick up detail with it being so far from the camera (i'll try a noise mod to give it texture) - vegitation is random but i guess from that angle it does look repetitive. Stan Zaslavsky
well done - looking lots better now you might want to bring down the reflectivity of the street material - it probably wouldn't reflect quite as much unless its just been raining
ezkapist
hey, it looks very nice but I am not sure if the glass on the left works, maybe model just something basic or take it out... also the alucobond looks too noisy and street too wet - grainy... (have you thought about hdri lighting - might set a more natural mood) keep it up b
Kyle
Looks a lot better. I would remove that grey square or maybe just a wireframe there, just looks unsightly and detracts from the image. The textures on the building have more depth now and look better. The dark grey building is still a liuttle flat though. Agree with the wet road look. People don't seem to have same saturation as your image. The sky works a lot better, I would go for a deeper blue sky in parts to give your image a bit of mood. Overall though a great improvement.
