baily5
Hi, I'm trying to model a swimming pool (3d max) with a couple of water features, and i'm just wondering if anyone can help me with the modelling the impact from the waterfall to the actually pool the disturbance/splash that is given off. The result is only quite small (not a huge splash or anything)but it gives a white foam from the waterfall, much like the two examples but even a bit more subtle. I'm a bit stuck, any suggestions on how to go about modelling this would be greatly appreciated.
luckymutt
Rather than modelling the impact, you'd be best off using just materials. If this is going to be for an animation with much attention on it, then use materials and PFlow. You can create a mask in Photoshop for the splashy areas on the pool surface and use it in a Blend material between the surface water and the foam. You can then use bump and/or displacement to enhance the foam area. If you then need the additional detail of splashing, a simple PFlow, using the same mask to define the emmission can be made. Crazy Homeless Guy
If it is for a still, it will probably turn out 5x better if it is composited in Photoshop, and it can be done x10 faster that way.
