danb4026
I use 3d Photo Browser which allows me to view all kinds of files, includeing HDR's. When choosing a bitmap though, max defaults to a bitmap viewer that will not show HDR thumbnails. So I have to open 3d Photo Browser to view the thumbnail of the file I want and then select its name from the default max browser. Is there a way to or and extension that allows HDR images to be viewed in the max browser? If not, is there a way to have max default to a viewer that does show HDR's? John Dollus
Asset browser under utilities displays HDRI thumbs and you can drag-drop into the mat editor
danb4026
Yes John, thanks. But the problem is you can drag and drop an HDR into a material map slot, but not directly into the VrayHDRI map. Basically, I put the VrayHDRI map into the diffuse material slot, then I hit the "browse" button and browse for the hdri file and place it into the VrayHDRI map. The problem is, when you hit the Browse button for the hdri, it automatically brings you to a browser that does NOT show hdr thumbnails. So in order to know which HDR to use, you have to open up the Asset Browser separately and look for the corrosponding HDR that you want, go back to the regular browser and choose that hdr. Its a totally unecessary step. If it automatically opened the asset browser and then you could drag and drop the hdr to the "browse" button to place in the VrayHDRI map, it would be a real time saver. I hope I am making sense.
