Boing
if i have several elements in vray (z pass, atmosphere etc) and i set it to auto save it'll only save the render, not the elements. the standard frame buffer will save the individual elements but i prefer using the VFB. how can i gat the VFB to save out the seperate render elements automatically? BrianKitts
the option is right there in the same box where you enabled the vray frame buffer....

WAcky
A word of caution though! I sometimes forget to uncheck this box after my render and then can lose some passes on re-renders
BrianKitts
A word of caution though! I sometimes forget to uncheck this box after my render and then can lose some passes on re-renders That's a good point, I really wish this option didn't have the filename as part of the setup. It should just be an on/off tick box that when selected it takes the filename out of max's save file dialogue and tags the channel name on to the end of it to make the file name. And then drops the file in the same place max is set to.
vincent_icon
Great! I was wondering about this too! Another doubt i came up with was, is there an option not to render the final image, but only the passes? It would be faster right? Because VBF shows the final result and then the other passes... I dont know if you can understand what i mean.
RyderSK
Great! I was wondering about this too! I dont know if you can understand what i mean. I think they should really do this, considering how many people ask for it and seems to only be logical. Everyone will suggest you to lower your render settings as low as possible, even turn of GI, and render.
Chris62
the option is right there in the same box where you enabled the vray frame buffer.... I have my settings as in the reference image but still doesnt save out when FB is enabled. You have to uncheck so whats the advantage of using this option? You can just save via the render elements tab.
marcobossow
I'm having the same problem, but can't view the picture Brian attached. It was displayed as a link before I registered, but after I logged in, the link simply disappeared. Now it just says: "Attached thumbnails" with a paperclipsymbol , but there is no picture. Tried in both Firefox 13 and IE 10. Edited July 21, 2012 by marcobossow

Tried in both Firefox 13 and IE 10. Hey Marco, happened the same to me but found how to fix it: In the vray tab in render settings, in V-Ray:: Frame buffer, you have to enable Split render channels, by ticking the Save separate render channels and unticcking Save RGB and Save Alpha (because those are saved in your original render). I imagine the idea behind it is to save the channels in a format like .exr, but evidently it's a problem by saving in a png, so you need to separate the channels in different files. Hope it works for you!

avghh
Does checking "Separate render channels" work if I save my sequence of renders from "Render Outputs" of "State Sets? If no, what should I do to have sequence of ZDepth and other passes separately during main pass render? Edited June 9, 2014 by avghh
