YOHKOH
Hi there We recenly reconfigured out servers. Since then my context boxes showing path history and recently opened files fail to update, when I close and open max. They work whilst i'm actually in Max but then revert back to a freeze frame of several weeks ago. Any ideas??? I'd tried unistalling / re-installing max, but it never really totally unistalls all folders and seems to retain some settings and file paths etc prior to the uninstall. BrianKitts
Uninstalling doesn't dump all the preferences files....you need to dump the info max stores in... C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\3dsmax Specifically the .ini file located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\2009 - 64bit\enu .....holds all the recent file info. Nils Norgren
I think that Brian is on the right track, but I bet that the underlying problem is permission problems. Try to open the .ini in a text editor and change something(just add a line at the end) in the file and see if it lets you save it. When you did your server switchover did the domain get changed? if so, and you migrated to a new user, and all your data got moved over there can be permissions problems. I would follow Brian's advice and delete the .ini file (saving a backup) , when you delete this file you will loose all your custom settings in Max. If this is the case you may find that there are more things acting wonky, permission problems can be a real hassle. hope it works out, -Nils
