monkeyman905
Hi all, im doing a very detailed building with very precise measurements working in meters. The issue im having is when I zoom in to a window frame or other items I am having issues with it disappearing when I get close. Is this a setup issues or hardware issue? Thanks Phil
Tommy L
It may be that you are miles away from the origin (0,0,0)?
monkeyman905
i though that but the build starts at 0,0,0. Im also hiding everything whem im just do detail on a small part. But wen i get into the verts it just disapars so i cant work at the angles i want, ive tried wireframe as well but still no luck , thanks 4 the sugestion though tommyL any more? Tommy L
What version of max? If its 2008, I had some disappearing geometry issues a while back with that. Usually worked in wireframe though. Does it have more problems when object snap is on? Could you post a screengrab of your units and system units panels? Do you have a currently linked acad file in the file link manager? SandmanNinja
You can try selecting a face or vert and pressing Z - that will center the viewport over the selected geometry. You can also try zooming in with: Control+Alt+MMB+moving the mouse 'up' on the mouse pad. This seems to be a more controlled way to zoom.

pfbreton
Your geometry is probably outside the precision limit of max.: max uses a single floating point buffer to store information about vertiex position. If your model is way out of the origin (million units), you will see this happening. Now, be careful: the units that are used are not the "display units" but the "system units". Verify that your model was imported correctly (many users confuse between display units and system units). To check this, set your display units to generic. Then make a box that match closely your model. If the size of the box is in the millions, that is what your problem is.
