Mike.
Hi, i want to make a car moving with wheels moving accordingly. Tha path is straight. it's only a rotation issue. If anyone had a tip that would be great. Thanks I have read things about linking an expression controller to the rotation parameter, but i can't get this to work properly. Thanks in advance. Paul Twyman
Hey, You can use the Wire Parameters in the animation menu to link say the X axis movement of an object (your car) to an axis rotation of another object (your wheels). Then in the wire parameters dialog you will have to control how the two respond to each other ie, how much rotation for how much travel. You'll have to get your maths hat on and work out the circumference of your wheel and then link that amount of x axis travel to 360 degrees of rotation (1 full rotation). For a really simple example if your wheel circumference is 1 meter then you would link 1 meter in x axis travel to 360 degrees of axis rotation of your wheel. Hope that makes sense
anton
Here is a little tutorial that explains a simple car rig: http://laurent.renaud.free.fr/loran-tutorial05-uk.html#part3 Really easy and straight forward
Cocytus09
Cool tutorial Anton. I would use the MadCar plugin. It handles tire rotation, suspension damping, suspension rigidity, break sensitivity, and more. The best part of the plugin is that it's FREE! Check out my first try at animating a car at high-speed: Test Driving in MAX BTW - If anyone has any tips on handling better Motion Blur on the wheels, please share your knowledge! I tried a velocity pass in After Effects with RSMB, but the blurring looks like a poltergeist movie! Any tips anyone?
