Fran
RandomControl, makers of fryrender, have just announced the launch of frybench, a benchmark tool for helping users to determine the best system for fryrender and to gage their existing systems against other rigs. BrianKitts
cool.... an alternative for those who are burnt out on cinebench's motorcycle renders!
Antisthenes
You don't need to be a fryrender customer, or even a fryrender DEMO user to download it or submit your own entries. All you have to do is download the frybench package, unzip it, and run the benchmark.already better than benchwell thanks Frani score: 28m 18s Edited March 20, 2009 by Antisthenes

Fran
7m47s on an i7 920 That's 5 min faster than my Q9450 and 7 min faster than my Q6700. Over a minute faster than my clovertown octo-core. I'd like to replace the guts in my render slaves with i7 920 rigs. The xeons are loud and power-hungry.

I can imagine, just bought an i7 920(not the one I tested it on) with 12GB, a GeForce GTX280, two open PCI-E slots (for my CausticOne card I hope) and 320GB RAID-0 for around 1400 euros... This system will destroy my dual quad core @1,86 and a Quadro FX3500. So for around 1000 euro's I can get the same machine as a render-node. hmmm.... BrianKitts
7m47s on an i7 920 quizzy was that in 32bit or 64bit mode?
quizzy
that was 32bit, as soon as I have my i7 box I'll test it on 64bits. danb, you overclocked it to 3.99, is that a stable setup or can I forget about running a render for a week with 100% cpu load? danb4026
My system is completely stable....not a hitch. I have an Asus board that allows for easy overclocking in the bios. Actually you dont even need to use the bios, they have a tool that you can run on your desktop that allows for easy overclock features.
