Good day!

I wanted to practice my exterior rendering skills and I have come up with this : 1.jpg

I'm not sure what am I missing here, but it doesn't look like a professional render...Any CnC is really welcomed.

Best regards,

Flavius

the modelling looks nice and i like the flowers hanging down - thats a nice touch

The two little trees at the front don't really do much for realism ;) - they are unlikely to be exactly the same

also this looks like a country setting - so why don't you put some nice landscape photo in the background with forest scenery?

just my 2c worth :)

I agree with stan, a background would make the image pop more, right now it looks a bit lacking. The two shrubs in front of the house look a bit too dark, they remind me of RPC content, they should be affected more by the direct light. IMO the greens are a bit too saturated and the grass blades are too thick. Perphaps the wood is just a tad too pale?

Thank you for your replies ! I am going to look for a good background...

About the wood, yeah,it' looks a bit pale to me,but I don't know what to do to it..I mean with it's shader.

I am going to fix the grass

Thank you again for your feedback!

I can't believe I missed this one.

I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the house structure itself.

Agreed with what's been said - I'd lose the dark, spikey shrubs and put some variation on the little trees.

Random comments:

* like the hanging plant - nice touch

* nice entourage - swing, benches

* grass looks a bit thick - grass is so darn hard to get to look right

* nice roof tiles

- Replace gradient sky with some real ones.

- Are all objects scaled correctly? The kids playthingy (swing) at the left look so small compared to the house foreground?

Real skies will do the trick I think :)

EDIT: Im bored, so I did a little personal adjustment on your picture, hope its ok. I dont know if its better or not, but illustrate my background point.

Thank you all for your CnC. Here is an update:

I have added this sky as a background, but I am also looking for a landscape, and not only a sky, altough I have tried one but the green hills fro the photo didn't look good behind my tree.

I have made there grass thicker as you suggested and I have got rid of the shrub. Also I've added some flowers and I've tweaked the greens a little bit, especially in the tree.

I've enhaced the displacement map from the alley a bit in photoshop as well.

And I've put another house(a rotated copy of this one) in the bg,so it doesn't look so solitary...

I haven't put an AO pass,yet...

P.S. -> If I use a displacement map...should I put the same map in the bump slot as well? Do you use displacement in conjunction with bump maps?

Thank you all!

Looks much much better. Nope no bump maps when using displacement.

The tree on the left has a border line around it, visible especially near to the leaves. You need some better masking in PS. I think the white colour on the house is a bit too bright, you could turn it down a bit to catch those mid tones there, instead of just an overburned highlight.

+1

P.S. after all you should desaturate a bit everything.. bye

Here are my latest updates, and probably the last,,I've been looking so much at this little house in photoshop that I don't know what looks good or what doesn't.Anyway..i made two versions, one very bright /high contrast in the summer sun,and well, another not so bright,I think..

I couldn't get the weight from the house, not to be pure white 255,255,255 ( float around 1.3,i know a bit too much) However,I've rendered as a HDRI also and lowering the exposure did fix it,but then the image was quite lacking of contrast, even if I masked it and painted around..I don't know, it's tricky to get it right, especially in photoshop where I make abuse of Levels/Exposure/Hue&Saturation +masks + lots of brushes. Anyway... :

good work

i Think That The ROOF TILE is a bit flattened maybe a bit more round-ish

also you should have some kind of EDGE TILE along The ROOF edge and

some RIDGE TILE at The Top of The ROOF RIDGE

(ok, picky comments)

good Image(s)
