jackb602
A client of mine would like to print a large run of posters featuring a rendering I produced for them, signed by the building's architect. I know that professional photographers have well established standards for pricing this kind of use of their work, but I have never run across this situation before as an architectural illustrator. Apparently, photographers even have specialized software that gives them a range of fees depending on a number of factors (i.e. location, size of image, number of copies, etc.). I am planning to use these numbers as a guideline, but I wonder if there are any comparable standards for architectural visualization, or even other types of illustration? I need to check my Graphic Artist's Guild guidebook at the office tomorrow, but I don't remember seeing this covered there. I'd appreciate any tips folks might have. Thanks, Jack
SandmanNinja
I think you're lucky they even thought enough to consult you beforehand. As a photographer, I charge for incidentals like that depending upon the client (how good are the relations with them?) and how many people are going to see it. I had two very similar photos of rural bush - waving grains of wheat/grass and some 'Roos. One I sold to a travel magazine for AU$500 and the other was blown up and put on a billboard and I got AU$2000 for it. I took the 2 photos within 5 minutes of each other.
