saving a file in 2008 compatible w/ 09?

Hi

 

I was wondering if I save a file in 3dsmax 2008, can I open it without any

problems in 2009? also...vise versa? I see a thread on here that is the same question, but is 3dsmax 9 the same as 09'? i ordered a plugin that was 3dsmax 9, and was not compatible with 3dsmax 2009.....

max 9 was the version before max 2008, and the latest version is max 2009.

 

you cant open max files from a newer version, for example you cant open a max 2009 file in max 2008. you can export your meshes and textures and import them into previous versions, but it's rather tedious and you lose a lot of functionality such as you modifier stack.

 

as for plugins, sometimes old plugins need to be recompiled by the developer. who ever you bought your plugin from might have a newer version to download.
