Justin Hunt
when out right "NO", sarcasm, crying and eventually hysterical laughter didn't work, it was a last resort. Needless to say 2 1/2 weeking into the project they finally had a concept that might work, but it will change. jhv
M V
I think we may have to accept that we are providing more 'service' than just illustration work. As more and more firms start using BIM and get the down and dirty 3d they need for meetings and concept selling, the more they are going to turn to us for the fast, friendly, very high quality service. The thing that is going to separate us from their in-house stuff is timing - the faster we can do it and do it well - the more they will knock on our door. Time is money and in architecture, everything is always last minute.
baroim
speak to the Chinese and Russian, they'll do the job for half of the price you pitch or even less, and manage the result,..they usually good at what they do..(visual wise), it is the age of resourcing, as in "if you want to know the weather down in India, call your bank".. I don't see how an outside 3D firm could turn out renderings faster than an in house department, even if you could the architect will still be loosing the benefit of being able to walk over and see what is going on. John Dollus
Ha, we can do them faster because we don't have the designer walking over every 30 minutes.
Wreck
I work 5am-5pm. Daily. Crunch time hits anytime, and that means evenings get added, weekends are expected. This economy is in no mood to employ folks who won't attack the long hours and do whatever it takes to finish the work.
Devin Johnston
Joseph are these hours normal for you or just something that your doing temporarily? I hope you get paid overtime, if not then you know your being taken advantage of.
Wreck
Joseph are these hours normal for you or just something that your doing temporarily? I hope you get paid overtime, if not then you know your being taken advantage of. I do it daily of my own accord. I love my work, enjoy it. I put in the extra hours on my own. At the same time, the job is good and sometimes we get on 2-3 month spurts where they'res really no choice. I've pulled 5am-11pm shifts due to a heavy contract that just had to be done. I don't like it, and I have my share of lashes out at the bosses, but in the end, now a days, any of us should be thankful just to have a job.
