nelpiper
Hi guys. I'm doing an animation where I should have a very nice DOF from an object closer to the camera to a one far away from it. The problem is that my DOF is very noisy (the blur is noisy) and the subdivision samples are 12 already. Does anyone have any idea how to improve this or is all about the subdivision? Thanks. Cocytus09
I wouldn't do it straight from vray, it prolongs your render times too much. Try doing it in your post-production software with a Z-depth pass and then animate the focal distance parameter. I'm pretty sure you can find something in these forums if you search for DOF and zdepth.
benitoben
Cocytus is right. try DOF pro ! it works perfect.
BrianKitts
i agree with the post production comments as well..... but to answer your question, my guess would be that your image sampler doesn't have enough max samples, or the noise threshold is clamping off the number of samples before your DOF blur is getting smoothed/sampled enough times. try uping the max samples and/or dropping the noise threshold.
