Gander0
I've been using Max for a couple of years for animation but am new to Architectural Vis. Have been trying to knock up a church from some dodgey original plans off the internet and have run into problems straight away. Created a floor plan using splines extruded it, I then created a number of windows (over 100) attached them together, extruded, and booleaned them against part of the extruded floor plan. The result wasn't fantastic and faces were all over the place. I was wondering if im going about this the wrong way. Do i need to get Autocad, build my strutures in there and skin them in Max? What are the proper procedures in architectural vis, to create any stucture basic or complex?
M.H.B
hey, if your church do not have any complex curve or something like that, i would recomend you to build your model in autocad first, and than you can take it to max, where you can work in details, like windows , glasses, and stuff ... see you.. Gander0
Hmm there are quite a few complex bits....is drawing it up in autocad the usual procedure?...do you have to do it in 3d in autocad? Thanks. Any Help is much appreciated
xgarcia
Gander - I usually draw walls and windows by using nested splines and then extruding. But you can boolean as well. If you don't like the edges showing up just use autoedge. I usually work from elevations and plans. I rarely extrude walls from the floorplans - I like to get the elevations and use nested splines. Run a search of this forum for "modelling in MAX, architectural modelling, bla, bla...." you should get some good topics. Xavier
