Stalkie
Hi, I really hope someone can help me with this one... Every time I open max and try and select a bitmap file (either through the material editor or the environment slot or anywhere else) the program completely freezes and I have to shut it down. I am running Max 2009 with vray SP3 on xp 64 bit. So far I have tried changing display driver from direct 3d to open GL - no difference, I've turned bitmap pager on - no difference, I've even completely uninstalled and re-installed max. This has happened totally out of the blue as I've been working on it this afternoon with no problems at all, and haven't fiddled with any settings. I cannot work at all without being able to access bitmap files so I'm going a bit crazy.. Here's hoping someone might have an idea... amer abidi
you mean ANY bitmap? or just a specific one? does it also happen with procedural maps or just referenced ones? Are you on a network? have you checked that your ip/network settings are ok? Try resetting your bitmap/external reference paths in the customize tab. Max freezez up sometimes when there's a missing path or reference conflict.
Stalkie
Thanks for the reply, Yes any bitmap (it freezes when I click on the bitmap tab), no not procedural textures. I am on a network though this should not effect the network path as the pc has standalone software and the network paths are to itself if you see what I mean. But I think you could be right and it is something to do with the network as the when the pc it is networked to is turned on it seems to be okay (a temporary workaround, as it has to go into repair and won't be available!) I'd be grateful for any more thoughts as it's doing my head in!
