jinsley
Have had a little time recently with the companies reduced work week and all... hopefully things pick up soon! I wanted to do a personal project to work on my materials and texturing, so I asked a friend if he would let me use his CAD plans for the Barcelona Pavillion... havn't had much time to start but the model is about 75% there so I thought I would post my progress so far... Thx for any crits and comments.... -JI
Tommy L
Two things jump out. Firstly, I don't like the blend of NPR and regular, so the trees being stylized bugs me. Also, there's some noticeable tiling.
jsf
Your Model looks good but the marble textures need a lot of work. You will find some accurate textures on the web. The BP has three different kinds of glass; green, clear, and frosted.
jinsley
Thx guys... have a stupid amount of work to do for Monday... but I will probably take a few breaks this weekend to peek at this and visit family so will repost when updates are available... Tommy L - thx for the opinion on the npr trees, I have been having mixed reviews of them lately... will work on finding some better stock or masking a few of my own... Found a photo of the orange onyx in the pavillion... managed to pull a fairly decent map of it off in photoshop.
alfienoakes
Agree on the trees. Would also say that the water needs to be much calmer than that. There really only should be a small ripple on the surface, just enough to break the reflections slightly. Unless its a rough day out there of course... jinsley
thx for the comments guys, fixed up the trees a little... water is calmer... Might be a while until another post, having troubles with my pc... when max renders it keeps getting hung up around the same spot every time, thought it was the ram, but it might be the video card now... so waiting for a replacement. Tommy L
Render issue will not be the graphics card, most likely a render setting. If it runs out of ram it will either crash or slow significantly, but prob not hang. The BP is in the middle of a city by the way. The trees are kind of off-putting. jinsley
geez... will take another look at my render settings... weird because when I removed some of my ram, initially it fixed, but eventually the same problem occurred again... The BP is quite heavily planted to the north and west of the structure...

Post your settings, lets have a look.
