Hey Stan,

Good to see you doing a new job. Haven't seen one for a while :)

Looks like you're still using just a plane with a texture applied for your grass. I dont use Mental ray any more but have you taken a look at this tutorial?

Another way to do grass which i used to do, and which works really well is to make a matte pass of the grass plane and comp in a picture of grass. I went down to the local football field and took some photos which worked out really well. I'd be happy to send you a couple of grass photos to try out.

Also, I think you might want to use a sharper anti-aliasing method. It looks like your rendered elements of the facade are lacking in texture. Try adding a bump. There are some good stucco bump maps in the max "archmats" folder.

Looks like you've got an issue with your model right of the windows. Your glass looks good but might be a tad blue.

I think your brick size might be a bit out of scale and it looks like you're lacking ridge tiles on your roof.

Have you considered 2d Elements? Like people and even trees?

Keep it up!

Have a good weekend!

thanks wacky - great comments - i'll check out that tutorial. i haven't had time to post the jobs - check out my website, you'll see some of the latest stuff there.

good pickup on the right of the window - i'm looking into what went wrong there - so far its not the lights or the mr sky portal. maybe i'll remodel that wall separately.

yeah and a ridge tile would be good ;)

not sure about 2d - i like getting the models in 3d and letting the render control all the shadows - rather than working through PS later.

thanks again for your comments. i'll pm you for the tips on grass in PS - last time the matte pass in mr didn't work all that well (more like my skills are not there yet:))

have a great weekend
