Stan Zaslavsky
Hi, So far my exterior walls are looking a bit plain and the two types that i've used before - one A&D material with a bitmap in the diffuse and the other using Promaterials Wall Paint - both have issues. I prefer to use A&D because then i can add bump and other effects - ProMat Wall Paint is a bit limited in this flexibility and also can only take RGB values for the paint rather than a bitmap. What are some ideas and tips for creating a more realistic exterior wall paint material? - someone was talking about adding a mix material in the bump slot and mixing two colours together? does this make sense? thanks in advance for your help
Justin Hunt
I like using a fall-off map set to fresnel and two variations of the colour. subtle but adds nice variation. Also a tiny bit of glossy reflectioons help. Set it to FG and highlights only to save on render time. Reflection of 0.3 and glossies of 0.2 work well. A tiny noise map in the bump slot and a large AO radius add that extra bit of detail. jhv
