p_4204
I have an exterior scene using Max 2009 and mr. I would like to know if anyone knows the approved method for lightening the shadows. They are way too dark. There is no density control.
pfbreton
The shadows brightness are in fact an area where you don't have light... so you can control them as follow: 1- reduce the sun intensity via its multiplier and increase the exposure control to compensate 2- play with the mid tones / shadows parameters of the exposure control 3- increase the intensity of the sky trhough its multiplier to compensate. one of the 3 shouold reduce the ratio of direct sunlight / direct skylight. amer abidi
I wouldn't recommend reducing the sun's intensity, but as Pierre pointed out, Increase the sky multiplier, and then fine tune through exposure (shadow/highlight) controls.
luckymutt
Also, you can increase the Haze amount in the Sky parameters a bit.
Crazy Homeless Guy
You might want to also try using Photons to get more light into the shadow areas. FG does not do a good job at bouncing light.
