rmccoy
I am starting to put together my first home built computer and I am having issues finding a decent looking case. I am a bit of a design snob and find almost all cases out there to be repulsive. I want something clean and simple, no flashy lights, no see thru side panels, no graphics or crazy paint colors. The only extra I don't mind is the lockable front cover. I would prefer a black case but it needs to be clean and simple like a mac. I have found some silverstone cases that look decent but they are way too expensive for just being a case. Does anyone have some recommendations as far as brands and/or specific models that may be similar to what I am looking for? Thanks in advanced for any suggestions. rmccoy
I would if I had the tools/skills to do it. I love getting my hands dirty.
AFK_Matrix
Hi, If you want simple, clean and well built I can highly recommend the Lian Li brand of case. The smaller cases are reasonably priced I think but if your after a tower case they may well be out of your price range.
shaneis
Here's a link to a render farm built into an IKEA cabinet - ignoring the actual set up, it may give you some ideas. http://helmer.sfe.se/

Frosty
I recently used this one to build a new home server. It suited my needs perfectly and I really like it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 I have 6 SATA HDs in there and with twin 120mm front fans its very quiet and cool. Inexpensive, high quality, understated and functional. Perfect
Lester_Masterson
Yeah, The Antec 300 is a sweet case (just got two), but the 900 is the bomb. Plus - On hot days the 200mm top fan really cools you down
Tim Nelson
I like Lian Li cases too, but for value, I'm a big "fan" of Cooler Master cases. This is what I used for my server, lots of air circulation. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137
AJLynn
I only use Lian-Li. Their modular aluminum cases are light and make computer building easier, and they're sturdy and not loud.
John Dollus
I go with coolermaster aluminum cases: http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?category_id=18&product_id=2870 Have one very similar to the one in the link about 6 years old that looks brand new and has been through 3 motherboard/power supply swaps with no problems. Frosty
Yeah, The Antec 300 is a sweet case (just got two), but the 900 is the bomb. Plus - On hot days the 200mm top fan really cools you down I too wanted the 900, however it was beyond my budget and wasn't as compact. I will also cast another vote for Cooler Master. I've used they're cases as well and like them a lot. So it looks to me like you have pretty equal votes for Lian Lee, Cooler Master and Antec. Happy shopping!
