measure distance

please tell me that the 'measure distance' tool (from VIZ 4) exists somewhere in MAX 5?!? if so, does anyone know where it might be? please don't make me have to use the 'Tape' object.

 

sorry, about all the VIZ 4 to MAX questions. I am slowly migrating over and trying to keep as much of the workflow as possible.

Just copy Macro_Distance.mcr from VIZ 4 to MAX 5 (it's in UI\MacroScripts). Then Customize UI and add it to the Tools menu.

only one stupid question ... how i drop the script into the Tools Menu? I know how to drag and drop scripts into the toolbars, but not into a pull-down menu.

nevermind. i found it in the 'main ui' list. i knew it was a stupid question.

 

thanks for the help - a total life-saver. i was worried about many sleepless nights of using the "tape".

if you want a quick measure tool, and you don't use it that often, AND you don't have VIZ4 (like I do) then you can use TAPE from the helper menu.
