hippiearchitect
hello all, my office is going to be upgrading all our computers soon, so all my setting will be lost, my large collection of maxscripts will be lost, and the corresponding menus, and all my installed plugins. i was hoping someone knew of a way to back up not only the ui but also the maxscripts and the menus for them, and my plugins into a package that i can load into the new copy of max i will have? Dave Buckley
nope, unfortunately you have to wait until the plugins/scripts have been configured/updated to work with Max 2010, and also the new interface for Max 2010 is different and their is no 'Switch to Classic View' unfortunately Bummer. I know. You could always try the 'Save custom UI' on the customize menu in Max, not sure how it will work when opened in max 2010 though. I'll try it in a sec and let you know, currently experimenting with max 2010 myself as we speak
Dave Buckley
ok, so if you do the method i suggested, it takes across, quad menu layouts, menu's at the top, keyboard shortcuts, but what you will find is that all your plugins are missing as they are only max 2009 compatible. The interface still has the Max 2010 icons and look and feel, the ribbon remains, but you could get the interface pretty close to what it was

Once you have the new machine up and running. install max and all plugins. Recopy ui and scripts from the pen drive or any other form of back up. Crazy Homeless Guy
I am pretty sure that only plug-ins need recompiled for 2010, scripts should work fine.
