stefkeB
The "file link manager" is not finished for max6. It is now only "file import".

Reitveld
I'm interested in the same thing. I thought it was going to be an add on thing.

stefkeB
On the VIZ4 newsgroup at news.autodesk.com there has been a long talk about it. Basically, transferring the "file link" to max6 caused a few problems (since max does a lot more then VIZ and they had to be sure that the tool supported those features. The quick solution was releasing the link-tool without possibility of updating. That said, they asked for feedback about the tool and it's implementation and I said that they should consider merging the XRef-feature and the file-link manager and support all supported file formats if possible. That way you would be able to link (and update) *.max, *.dwg but also *.3ds and others. Now that would be very usefull since I use ArchiCAD, which can export DWG-files, but the export through 3ds files supports the texture mapping and that makes for a huge timesaver in max. Jason Matthews
Have you tried file linking into the viz file and then opening it in max? The principle should be the same. Build in cad, File link to viz, save file, open in max, do you stuff in there, save it. I think viz opens max files. I mean, they are .max files. mtutaj
that's an expensive workaround.. I dont have $3500 laying around to buy viz just to be able to link files..
Jason Matthews
Well, I found the way. For colorID, if he already has viz, he can do it this way. I just tried it and it works.
