Michael J. Brown
I tried searching this one out, but found no succesful solutions. I've got all my most commonly used materials configured in the sample slots. I want to save this "state" to be re-used each time I start a new project. How do I go about saving this material sample slot arrangement, and likewise calling it back up?
JonRashid
Not sure it works for mat editor. However create a file called maxstart and set this up with all your default settings and save. Whenever you load max it will use this file as a template. Sorry just tried it and that doesn't work Edited April 24, 2009 by JonRashid
Chad Warner
There's a default material editor file that you can save it as. It's called "medit.mat" and you save it in the \defaults\MAX\ directory (at least in mine)

I tried this before, but I guess I must have not saved the .mat to the right location. So instead, this time I did a search for every medit.mat file on my system and just over-wrote each of them to make sure I got the right one(6 or 7 locations)
