are is there any way to control globally (without going through every material)

- reflection / refraction subdivisions for all materials (to set them all to the same value)

- reflection / refraction interpolation (to turn it off globally for large scenes)

thanks for any help, it would take a long time to do this for each material individually

Global subdivs multiplier in DMC Sampler roll-out will control the

- reflection / refraction subdivisions for all materials. however, this is just a multiplier, so you can make the all half as refined by putting in 0.5 for example.

Not sure about the interpolated samples. You can turn off reflection/refraction in the Global switches roll-out though.

yeah, i want to use glossyness, but some materials i import are set up with interpolation, and then i have to go through each one to find them, or i get extra passes when I am trying to render animation.

same thing with the subdivisions, some materials you import will have 50 subdivisions, but again you dont notice that right away

I got annoyed at this a few weeks back too.. adapted an old little script to list which mats are glossy or interpolated, and let you double click the list to load the mat in material editor slot 1.

Which_mtls_are_Glossy

not much error checking or ui work into it, but it did the job for me. (The joys of opening up really old jobs makes for lots of little scripts like this!)
