malevy
I am creating a scene of a house with landscaping for school and cannot have any grass in the scene so i was thinking of stone instead. My question is how do you create the stone. Is this from a tile-able image. I have looked and looked and cannot find any images except for the dosch outdoor disk which i really dont have the money to spend $100 on one image.. any help would be appreciated.. Tim Nelson
Try cgtextures.com , under brick, rounded brick. You might have to do some work to make them tileable, but the textures themselves are usually pretty good quality.
+421media
and to make them tileable you can use the offset tool in photoshop, under filters -> other. or via a handy little program calle seamless texture generator pro. STG pro.
malevy
Thanks that works great but now i get to figure out how to apply it properly with the UVW. how do you know what numbers to use for the size in UVW map and to make them tileable you can use the offset tool in photoshop, under filters -> other. or via a handy little program calle seamless texture generator pro. STG pro.
videep
Hi !!! may be you can try searching for stone material or shaders in google if you are rendering with vray...there are some materials available...You can take them as references and create your own material or..use them... +421media
Well, most people do it by the eye, just trying and testing until it looks about right. But if you want to be precise theres and option in 3ds max - look for the "use real world dimenstions" in UWV map modifier, and also in the texture tiling options in the material editor. Then all you have to do is estimate how big the pattern you created is in reality and put those numbers in for size in tiling.
