Ies and Vray Settings

hello there, it's been a while

 

my problem is when i use an Ies file (from the web) for the Vray Ies light it always looks too faint (ie the 100 watt Ies doesn't give the effect of 100 watt ) does anybody know if this is true and why ? could it be that is because i'm working in LWF ? if anybody could give me details on setting the intenseties of the IES lights i would be very gratefull.

Hi Fadi

 

two things are vital when using IES lights:

 

1- Units setup have to reflect real world measurements

2- Exposure (camera) settings have to understand whats going on.

 

I'm a mental ray man myself, so can't tell you what buttons to press, but look into your exposure settings in your vray & encironment settings and you'll get a step closer to turning on that light bulb properly.

thank u for ur answer.the thing is i'm pretty sure my cam settings are allright (i use Vray Phys cam and Sun and sky) cause i rarely do any post.
