Hi guys, I've always been fascinated with roman architecture, and always wanted to recreate the whole roman city, or at least some monuments of it. Well, finally I started doing some tests, and begun modeling the Colosseum. Here r some renders from it. Still allot of work to do, but here's a preview.

Tell me what do u think about it.

As its a reconstruction model will you include the timber and fabric awnings or Velarium that sheltered the people from the rain or the sun?

Yes, of course, I also will add all types of ornaments and materials using some paints that i found to give it a nice finishing as it was in that time, all kinds of marble and stone. I'm still looking up for more material and information, because I couldn't find much about this, but, anyways, i still have some more modeling time before texturing, lol.

what are you planing for the statues ? i guess you can just use a few types of characters and unless youre doing some super closeups the would work well enough copied all around.

Yes, im working on the inside now, doing all the exits from the stairs, also adding some final details. I have to find some texture for the exterior, i can't find any kind of that travertino stone blocks on the outside.

For the statues i think i will model a lowpoly model of it, maybe some variations, 2 o 3, and then repeat them in some random order, also rotating them.

have you managed to resolved the construction of the verlarium - the canopy that ran around the top - i was trying to find information as a historic reference for a grandstand concept i'm working on and could not find the information i was looking for

Hey guys, here r some images from the model, I'm almost done modeling. I will finish some details and then I'll start working on the shaders and textures. Then I'll do a fly-through animation.
