demo38
OK. Hot off the presses...??? I just got off of the phone with Discreet's East Coast Sales Rep asking about the stability issues of Max 5. She informed me that they were very aware of the bugs in 5, causing crashes, system instability. But, (there's always a but...) they released a patch for 5 on their website just last Wednesday, which she said, according to her Users group, has taken care of "most" of the issues with the bugs that were reported. PS - I was also told that this is "THE LAST WEEK MAX 4 IS AVAILABLE." It's being pulled from the shelves. Be warned. abicalho
MAX 5.1 has been available for quite a while. Last week a patch for 5.1 was posted to fix a couple issues introduced by 5.1 in Xrefs and DX9. The best place to look for this kind of information is http://support.discreet.com. Alexander | discreet Quality Engineer
Jeff Mottle
Well maybe someone here can help me figure out why I am getting application errors everytime I exit MAX if I open and manipulate a file. I've tried the combustion fix, uninstalling all my plugins, turning off Zone Alarm, McAffee and trying various video drievrs and video modes. Nothing had helped. I'm on XP SP1 and MAX 5.1 SP1. Alex, you have any special in to help me? I've tried the MAX forums and so far it's a dead end. Do I just re-install MAX and get yet another auth code? help... Oh BTW, I'm not sure if it's MAX5.1 or XP, but something is definetly not as reliable as MAX 5 on w2k.
abicalho
Combustion 2.1 causes problems in MAX 5.1. Remove CombSelect.DLU (or something similar) from StdPlugs and see if it solves it. Alexander
Craig Ramsay
Hmmm I have a funny feeling it could be XP that is causing the problem. The same thing was happening to my friend so eventually he went back to good old Win2K, problem solved. Cheers Craig

abicalho
I've got 5.1 running in 3 XP machines, 5 languages, and all works fine. I don't have a single plugin, nor have Combustion 2.1 installed. Alexander
