Glass Vase Render Problem

Hi all, I am a long time fan but new member here. I saw a vase on Luxology and decided to model something like it. My problem is when I render. I get a black bottom to the vase where it seems like there is no light. I am using mental ray and lighting the scene with a skylight hdri image, FG and no GI or caustics. Does anyone have any input as to why I am getting these results? See attachments.

Much appreciated Macer... I had not seen this before. Apparently I stumbled across a fix last night along the same lines. I jacked the max depth up to 50 for reflection and refraction. I also cleaned up my model as there were lots of tris at the base. Either bad geometry or too little refl/refr depth was my problem if not both!
