fadi3d
hello everybody, i am having trouble with may eyes hurting after (and during) my job.doctor says it's because of straining too much at the Lcd and due to the size of my Lcd (Samsung 2493 HM) it emits too much heat. do any of you have this issue and is so much heat normal (in winter i turn of the heat system cause with it and this Lcd it gets too hot) do you know if other lcd's emit less heat (for the same size or 30'') ? Please if you can shed any light i'll be gratefull (or else the doc says i'll have to have an operation in my eyes ) thank you.
A.Mitov
Your monitor emmits so much light that you have to turn off the heat system?! If what you're saying is right then I think there's something wrong with your monitor. I searched google for this monitor and it doesn't look very qualitative. Not that my 21" ASUS is but it doesn't emmit that much. Indeed your doctor is right - staring long time without blinking is the main problem for sore eyes no matter LCD or CRT (LCD is preferable ofcourse ). You should try lowering your contrast and brightness when working regular stuff and not photo editing. Increase them only when needed. Another thing is to take short breaks every two hours. I hope your eyes get better.
shaneis
Do you have enough natural light in your office? Do yo take breaks away from the screen every hour? Do you sit a reasonable distance away from the monitor? As for heat, it seems a few people are having the same issue. If it's causing you health problems, I'd call this one a no-brainer...sell it to gamerz and buy yourself another monitor. A few hundred dollars is a small price to pay for keeping your eyes/ eyesight. You'd be able to write-off the expense somehow through your business. When finding a replacement, why not just visit your local computer store and stand in front of the monitors for a minute? Manufacturer's websites often have this sort of data in the model's specifications too. See you later, S.
fadi3d
hello guys, Thank you for you help i set my monitor to as low a brightness as i think is possible.as for the breaks i think they should be more regular.and bellieve me when i say i turn off the heat in fact my coworkers when the come to see what i'm working on leave with the remark that i am working in another room and another climate. Dear shane i don't mind replacing my lcd but i was hoping to know if other lcd's give as much heat (i'll have to see the websites i guess) cause standing infront of an lcd in the store here is out of the question unless it was a cheap model on display generally 17 or 19 '' thank you guys and take care Fadi. shaneis
I have a Samsung 19" for home use and it runs quite warm but nowhere near as hot as yours. I'm finding it difficult to find any real answers for you online too - if I google for 2349HM + hot, I just get results for "hot" as in great...or cool I suppose the best option would be to go for an LED backlight LCD. Samsung does make one although it's around 4x the price. Maybe you could start a new thread asking for people to recommend some LCD's they have used - they'll be able to tell you if there are any heat issues as well. Or just click on the banner ad at the top of the CGA site to the new HP LCD's.
fadi3d
hello, dear shane thank u for ur concern, i was hoping people with a problem like me would shed some light on the matter. i am considering a led Lcd although i guess a 24'' would be too expensive and they are yet unavailable in lebanon.and the operation the doctor recommends costs around 150 $ (though that is not why i will not do it yet.in fact i did a laser operation 12 years ago and wonder if this is a side effect) so pls people who know about such an issue do contact me or post here. thank you Fadi. Crazy Homeless Guy
Are you working in a calibrated environment? If not, I might start there. This will both keep the brightness screen down, and keep the color to a temperature that is sooting to the eye. Also, it will give a standard in with to work. fadi3d
Dear Travis ur suggestion is worth investigating meanwhile i turned the cooloing system up (for lower temperatures) and it helped quite a bit so i will waite a little longer and see. thank u all for ur input and take care.
