Max and Maya, mainly Max . . . not the usual discussion either about which is better

Guys

I'm in a bit of a pickle really, a bit stuck as to options.

I need to do cloth simulations (not flags blowing in the wind, but real cloth simulation). Fair enough. I have Max experience and i know full well that Max can do what i need to do as i've already done it. My only problem is that it doesn't do it quick enough. I also know that this is always a problem and comes down to hardware.

I have minimal maya experience, but i know that maya can also do cloth.

However i'm looking to open a discussion into what drives the simulations.

As far as i'm aware max cloth uses a Havok engine to drive cloth, and as far as i know Maya cloth is driven by Syflex.

I also believe that Syflex is quicker than Havok at simulating.

What i don't know is why? :)

Correct me if i'm wrong but Havok which drives Max cloth can only use one processor??

Does syflex take advantage of multi-processors??

I have also read that a Syflex plugin is avaialble for Max, is this true??

I also looked into other PhysX stuff and CUDA Tesla, but that's far too over my head.

Really i'm just looking for my best options, and i really really really want to continue using Max as it does exactly what i want it to do.

Please could anyone help me on this or advise of any better solutions, it really would be aprreciated as i'm going out of my mind now.

Also i'm unsure as to what the new cloth enhancements are in Max 2010. Is multi-processor support now included with the cloth engine??

And guys i could be well out here, this is just how i have read and understood things

Cheers

I haven't been totally paying attention...but I believe Maya uses ncloth not Syflex...Syflex was/is the best cloth program out there...but I hear nice things about ncloth...which comes with Maya unlimited...you can get syflex for Max I think...but its like $2,000...so if ur not going to be using it alot...then I wouldn't buy it....
