fugglyknuckles
Hi, I've just been asked to create a 3d visualization of an area in the Isle Of Man, and I'm finding it difficult to track town elevation data / DEM etc for that part of the world. Can anyone recommend a good source for European elevation data? Apologies if there is an obvious solution, my broadband is down and I'm having to use my mobile phone as a modem....5.2k tia

ajbmorris
You need to go to the Ordinance Survey site and download a map with the contours and levels on it (it'll be in metres) - this will cost.
fugglyknuckles
Thx but I'm needing elevation data. I managed to find 3 - arc/ second (90 m) resolution here srtm csi cgiar org (replace spaces with dots) it's free btw The coastline's aren't very accurate tho', I was hoping to import this into max and have an accurate 3d model to work with. I know there is 1 arc-second (30 m) resolution, from the same STRM project but afaik it's only available for the US regions. I'm going to try displace or MTD and some poly modelling on the coastline instead, looks like there's no easy solution to this.
