rishmantrijo
Recently I am rendering a scene in vray, all things comes out smoothly until suddenly when I'm already saving the file as a jpeg or bitmap it come out with this error, "Cannot create bitmap" what could be possibly the cause of this unusual error? Is there any other way on how to save the rendered image coz it's truly sucks when you're waiting for such a long time then suddenly it will come up to this... Any thoughts about this? amer abidi
Save as Tiff or Targa. Usually this error means that the format is incapable of handling the image you have (too large maybe?). Assuming ofcourse, that you have enough diskspace where you're saving and have not run out.
rishmantrijo
I've tried that but it seems not the way. All the possible image extensions I tried but it all fails.. Sucks. Have any thoughts of other ways to save the file? Like from the RAM player or something? Otherwise I will settle for the low reso image which is not worth it. By the way the image that I was rendering was just 2048x1024 pix image. That is not that big enough image size for that error to occur.

akocpinoy
hi guys, when this happens, i use the frame buffer, and i turn off the memory render, (check the perview mode) this will directly save the file instead of rendering it in memory. (dont forget ti specify file name) hope this helps....

(dont forget ti specify file name) hope this helps.... My specs is 1.66Ghz dual core with 2.6GB of RAM. My RAM usage in the rendering process is coming only at 1.3GB running with dynamic memory limit of 500MB coz my proxys are around that number, with poly count of 2.2M. Checking the task manager, it still has the remaining available of my RAM. And it finishes the rendering properly. Only on saving it gives me this heck of a problem. "Cannot create bitmap"
rishmantrijo
Also I'm rendering with frame buffer for the scene.. So I think it's not with the frame buffer.

Also always reboot before setting up your render. Frees RAM. Anuj
rishmantrijo
I try first rendering with the render to memory frame buffer unchecked first & see what will happen.. And save the file in the render output in the common tab. I will wait again for another 4hrs for this.. But worth waiting.. We'll see the update... rishmantrijo
Whew! That was a heck of waiting.. But now we have a good result. I render the scene unchecking the render to vray frame buffer memory & save the file in the common tab so I don't need to worry for the whole night not been able to save the render. Here's the scene that took me 3hrs on my 1.66GB dual core.

WAcky
Here is an interesting bit of info i missed that might be worth a try in future... Due to technical reasons, the original 3ds Max frame buffer still exists and is being created. However, when this feature is turned on - V-Ray will not render any data to the 3ds Max frame buffer. In order to preserve memory consumption we recommend that you set the original 3ds Max resolution to a very low value (like 100x100) and turn off the 3ds Max Virtual Frame Buffer from the common 3ds Max render settings.
