Craig Ramsay
I just downloaded my max5 design extension but I can't find the two point perspective modifier Where is it hiding and how do I use it? Cheers guys
Jeff Mottle
Didn't you read the FAQ/REAME File? Actually it was only by accident that I noticed this myself. You can only access this from the file menus at the top. I can't remeber the name, but whatever menu gets created when you install the extensions is th eone where this modifier is located. You can't access throught the modifier list. Hope that helps, Jeff
CHE
Could you tell me where can I find and download the extension tools? Is it for free? Or you guys got the Discreet subscription? :???:
Christopher Nichols
Just curious... are you talking about the VIZCopy Tool?
mzagorski
I think that you will find that it's part of the Viz Copy Tool -> Camera 2-point perspective correction modifier. Mike
Jeff Mottle
It's part of the subscription program. You get all the functionality of VIZ in MAX. Bye Bye Viz... http://www.discreet.com/subscription/ 3dsmax Design Extensions
Craig Ramsay
Yeah it is so obvious that Viz is getting binned with things like the Max design extension and the "Special promotions" to get a cheap crossgrade from max to viz. Lol I didn't even notice the new design menu, shows how much I use my shortcut keys [ January 03, 2003, 02:12 AM: Message edited by: Craig Ramsay ]
Christopher Nichols
Just a few questions... First: The Design Extension seems a LOT like the VIZcopy tool... is it the same? Second: what is the price and benefits of the Discreet subscription? Third: I think putting VIZ in the bin is a GREAT idea as long as MAX (6+) cost the same as VIZ does... where it can cost the same as Maya and Lightwave. Honestly, from my old job, supporting two platforms was a pain. We were not going to give up the amimation abilities of MAX, and having all MAX was too expensive. I guess this is less of a question and more of a statment... don't you agree?... well NOW it's a question.
Jason
Does anyone know how to copy over the script/plugin for the 2 point perspective correction? I have both VIZ 4 and Max5, but I want to work strictly in Max. I managed to copy over the AEC stuff and it works fine, but I can't find the files for the 2 point correction. Anyone tried this, or know how?
plastic
if you have both applications get the viz copy tool from the discreet website.

It contains pretty much the same set of plugins, plus it contains more macros, a better menu, and a separate CUI if you want the entire set of menus/quads as in VIZ. Also, it does not require you to have VIZ installed, since it's an installer in itself. But it's only available for subscription users. 2. Subscription benefits and pricing can be found in the discreet website, where Jeff pointed, and/or through your reseller. Alexander
John Dollus
Also, the Vizcopy Tools provide a basic level of functionality with some limits on modification. With the Design Extension, it is identical in operation. Having to purchase the subscription in order to get it is somewhat of an insult. It would make more sense to allow addon packages to Viz that would make it more capable.
markf
you can add a skew modifier to your camera in Max 5.0. As I recall you set dierction to 90 and use Y axis. I can send an example if needed. This is real simple, works great for correcting verticle perspective.
