shaneis Posted May 11, 2009 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Ahh, the vertical cross format. You can create that format from a light probe using HDRShop. Stephen Thomas Posted May 11, 2009 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Yes, the cubic option in the VrayHDRI map is the one to use for Vertical Cross format. The only format you want to avoid is the Horizontal Cross Format as Vray doesn't accept it. As for formats and their differences I always tend to use the Latitude/Longitude format as I find it easier to see what's going on at a glance and also I personally think it gives you better quality and less distortion than the other formats, though others may disagree. Also if you're using the VrayHDRI map then it will only accept HDR files. You can use EXRs but then I assume you would have to use the standard bitmap loader and set the white point, change the output based on the log value etc. etc. which is a huge hassle.
