Daylight system and photometric lights?

I am new to mental ray and photometric lights. I have figured out a lot of things I am still stuck on one issue. If you are modeling an interior you light it with photometric lights. no problem. If you are modeling an exterior you use the daylight system sun and sky . Still no problems.

Here is the problem if you are doing an interior with exterior light coming in from a daylight system and you have photometric lights in addition to the daylight systrm sun and sky. Do you have to do anything to the photometric lights to get them to work properly.

Specifically do you have to crank up the intensity of the photometric lights to get them to work properly with a daylight system? Is there a specific formula for cranking them up and still be photometrically correct?

Yes, you will need to crank the intensity. This is where it becomes about tastes, and artistic eye in terms of how bright they are. Typically I will use a percentage multiplier until the candelas for the Photometric light are somewhere between 100,000 and 400,000, depending on the scene.

Sometimes this means I need to a percentage multiplier on the IES lights of 10,000 of its original value. ...just to give you an idea of how much you might need to crank the percentage.
