Ricardo Eloy
Alright, fellas, this is driving me crazy ... All of a sudden, 3ds max 2009 won't display any maps in the viewports when Direct3D is on. Only on OpenGL mode maps show as they should. Funny thing is that I have the exact same scene showing nicely in 3ds max 2008 also on Direct3D. Any thoughts? Itoosoft
Max 2009 has a bug when using Multi-materials and opacity maps, perhaps this is the same problem. It's solved in Max 2010. To fix it, enable "Show Map in Viewport" in the texture, instead in the material level. The textures will be displayed in the viewport without transparencies, but correctly. Ricardo Eloy
Tks for the reply, Carlos, but... No go. I already use to enable only the maps instead of the whole material because of the old VRay problem. The problem here happens regardless the rendering engine, with simple mats, just a bitmap applied to the diffuse channel and that's it. No transparencies. The objects simply show white, no matter what I do. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Direct3D configs, but which ones?
Karl Larsen
I'd sure like to know what the answer to this one too because it just happened to me...
Ricardo Eloy
To be honest, I had totally forgotten about this (more than 2 years old!). Never found the solution nor had the problem again, although I'm no longer on Max 2009...
Karl Larsen
Well I changed to Open GL to get the maps to work in viewport but it sure is strange how something like this can pop up with no known changes that I made to anything. Crazy thing is it works on my laptop in Direct3D just fine...
Karl Larsen
Updated my video card drivers and now everything works perfect even with Direct 3D!
