erickdt
I always have this problem with Premier. I do all of my editing work and then it comes time to export the file into something that the average person can play on their computer. Every friggin time, no matter what settings I use (other than wmv) my exported files are absolutely huge. Too huge for any normal computer to handle. In the case of what I'm dealing with today I downloaded some Flash Player files from a client's website edited them down to seperate videos and now I'd like to export them to use as animated maps for TVs. The only problem is my exported avi files are all 1G+. This from files that were originally streaming video on their website!!! Someone please help me!!! Tim Nelson
Premiere isn't really that good for encoding, at least not to me. There are a couple things I do. 1) If you just want to export from Premiere and be done with it, exporting as a dvd file works pretty good. I think it uses mpeg2 compression, and the files aren't ginormous. 2) You could export either uncompressed, or something like 'quicktime animation', and from there take it into another program thats well suited for encoding to make your small file size. There are a bunch out there, but one that I like is MPEG Streamclip, which is really good for making mp4's using the h264 codec. And its free. http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html Those are a couple suggestions, and I'm sure there are other ways to get something more manageable for you too. Ernest Burden III
Check what size your project is set to, it may be huge, too. Premiere has to be setup correctly from the start, otherwise its hard to re-size and such. Also check your output settings so there is decent compression, and also check that you are using a compressing codec--not one that does NOT compress. erickdt
Thanks guys! For the time being I'm just going to use a third party encoder (Any Video Converter) for the right file size output. Now my new problem is that MAX doesn't recognize ANY of the converted videos when I try to insert them into maps . I am thoroughly annoyed.
