DinoG
Ok so I'm kind of new to the modeling and rendering scene, I use Maya and Maxwell to model and render my scenes but my computer isnt really the fastest, I have a dual core 2.0 ghz processor, 2 gb of RAM and a 500 gb 7200 RMP HHD, but my scenes take forever to render when the geometry gets heavier. I was just wondering if you guys had any examples of some laptops I can get that has the speed and power needed to render larger scenes without breaking my bank, my budget is 2000-3000 canadian thanks in advance for the suggestions. 3dp
seeing you are in canada i'd check out Eurocom after that it's dell m6400, 4400, lenovo w700 or Boxx (who i'm not too familar with) me i'm going for Dell once i get more £$$£ together as i've had flawless service from 2 laptops so far and they get pushed hard.............. Tommy L
Get a laptop for around 1400 and then buy 2 render nodes for around $650 each. Spend the remaining $300 on peripherals (to network the machines). Boom, 3 grand gets you a workstation and a small farm. As an added bonus, you can network your old machine as well. So: 2 x Q6600 /4G RAM + 1 x Core2Duo / 4G RAM + 1 x Existing Is alot of power for $3000. If you're gonna keep using Maxwell, you're gonna need it.....
