monkeyman905
HI, i amvery close to finishing modelling a project and to begin texturing. Im just doing the small details before i begin. but ive hit a point where im think do i spend time modeling or use a texture mapto cheat it. If you can just give me your opinions and how you would tackle it that would help loads. Thank you

Pechara
if you are not too close to it in the rendering, than texture it with some bump or displacements. If you are going to be very close to it, than model it.
wizuby
I would use a texure for the dif map in combination with a BASIC model of the object (really simple polys maybe?) or a displacement / bump depending on how close you are. You could make a displacement using crazy bump, or by modelling one and generating a displacement map from the model using Zdepth.
monkeyman905
Thank you for your ideas, as i will be doing close up shots it might be best that i poly model it. Just going to be time consuming to get the detail needed
Crazy Homeless Guy
I think the fastest way might be a Wacom and Zbrush, but that is just a guess.
monkeyman905
I think ur right totally over look Zbrush! Take half the time to get the detail i want, get the rough outline in max and export to Zbush for the finer detail. Also gives me chance to refresh my skills as i havent used it for a while.
